Eligibility/Qualification

Applicants must meet the following criteria:

  1. Prepared to independently conduct research.
  2. Have a PhD awarded on or after January 1, 2020, or expect to obtain a PhD by the date of hire. Exceptions may apply for applicants with a justification of a lapse in research activity.
  3. Available to start work in FY 2026 (April 1, 2026 – March 31, 2027).
  4. Not previously participated in the SPDR or FPR programs.

Job Description

The SPDR position allows researchers to engage in autonomous research within RIKEN’s framework. Duties include:

  • Proposing and conducting independent research.
  • Presenting research outcomes through academic journals and conferences.
  • Collaborating with the laboratory head and other team members.
