Staff Scientist for Natural Product Isolation: The Max Planck Institute for Terrestrial Microbiology invites applications for the position of Staff Scientist (m/f/d) specializing in Natural Product Isolation & Structure Elucidation. This role is crucial for pioneering research in synthetic microbiology and will contribute to significant advancements in microbial natural product research and enzyme engineering.

Eligibility/Qualification:

  • PhD in a relevant field
  • Relevant experience in preparative isolation of complex natural products, peptides, or small molecules
  • Proficiency in establishing and maintaining chromatography and mass spectrometry equipment
  • Experience in NMR-based structure elucidation of small molecules is highly desired
  • Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate in a multidisciplinary environment

Job Description:

  • Operate preparative and semipreparative HPLC/MS, Flash, SFC, and size exclusion chromatography systems.
  • Isolate pure compounds for NMR-based structure elucidation and conduct subsequent bioactivity and enzymatic tests.
  • Collaborate closely with various labs from Marburg and the Max Planck Society to support and develop research projects.
  • Contribute to the ongoing establishment of the core facility for small molecule isolation and structure elucidation.
