Staff Scientist I Position: Children’s National Hospital is seeking a highly motivated individual to lead bench-based studies focused on RNA splicing in pediatric brain tumors. Eligibility/Qualification

  • Education:
  • Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.)
  • Or Medical Doctor (M.D.)
  • Or Master’s Degree (MS) with 3 years of relevant work experience.
  • Experience:
  • Minimum of 2-4 years of progressive specialized post-doctoral experience.

Job Description

The Staff Scientist I will engage in research with significant scientific value in both basic and translational sciences. Responsibilities include:

  • Conducting laboratory research focused on RNA splicing and pediatric brain tumors.
  • Utilizing techniques such as morpholino knockdown, CRISPR/Cas9 editing, ribosome profiling (Ribo-seq), and drug screening.
  • Collaborating with bioinformatics scientists to analyze splice isoforms and their impact on tumor biology.
  • Training technical staff, students, and fellows in laboratory procedures.
  • Assisting the principal investigator in writing grant applications and publications.
  • Ensuring adherence to research protocols and maintaining data confidentiality.
