Eligibility/Qualification

  • Candidates must hold a PhD obtained not earlier than 2021. For female applicants, the date can be extended by two years per child (up to a maximum of three children).
  • Must hold a research position at an institution located in a MENA country.
  • Minimum of five years of engagement in the science system in a MENA or sub-Saharan African country.
  • Cannot have an established collaboration with the intended German host.
  • Applicants currently in Germany or previous recipients of a TWAS-DFG Cooperation Visit are ineligible.
  • Women scientists are especially encouraged to apply.

Job Description

The TWAS-DFG Cooperation Visits Programme aims to initiate research collaboration between scientists from the MENA region and their counterparts in Germany. Selected candidates will:

  • Undertake a three-month research visit to a German institution.
  • Collaborate on mutual research projects leading to longer-term partnerships.
  • Benefit from covered travel expenses and subsistence costs during their stay.

  • Recent invitation letter from a German host
  • Two reference letters from senior scientists
  • Copy of PhD certificate
  • Evidence of proficiency in English or German
