PhD Positions in Continuous Enzyme Evolution (2.0 FTE) (V24.0013)
The successful candidates will work within the Molecular Evolution group on a project funded by an ERC Consolidator Grant. The focus is on continuous evolution methods to engineer enzymes for desired reactions. The research involves constructing, automating, and applying a continuous evolution platform, with the later stages utilizing third-generation sequencing techniques and bioinformatics tools to understand the sequence-structure-function relationships of the engineered biocatalysts.
Eligibility: We are seeking creative, motivated candidates with a MSc degree in (Bio)chemistry/Biotechnology or related fields. Experience in directed evolution, bioinformatics, next-generation sequencing, bioreactor design/application, or synthetic chemistry is a plus. An interest in working at the interface of chemistry and synthetic biology is essential, along with the ability to work independently.
