Position 1: Retinal Antioxidant Defense in Zebrafish

  • Study how zebrafish retina tolerates extreme oxygen and proton levels
  • Investigate molecular, mitochondrial, and cellular antioxidant mechanisms
  • Utilize cutting-edge techniques to measure reactive oxygen species (ROS) production and antioxidant responses in isolated mitochondria and in vivo

Position 2: Glucose and Lactic Acid Metabolism in the Bird Retina

  • Explore metabolic adaptations in avascular bird retina tissue
  • Perform in vivo oxygen measurements and spatial omics
  • Use radiolabelled metabolite techniques to understand intra-retinal metabolite shuttling and energy homeostasis
