Ph.D. scholarships focusing on understanding parental coordination in birds, with fieldwork conducted on Spitsbergen.

Scholarship Description:

The project aims to investigate the mechanisms of parental coordination in birds, examining both ultimate and proximate components. Ph.D. #1 will explore coordination patterns across species, with a focus on the little auk, while Ph.D. #2 will examine endocrine mechanisms of parental care, also using the little auk as a model species.

Eligibility:

  • M.Sc. degree in biology, ecology, or similar sciences
  • Proficiency in English
  • Experience in statistical analyses (especially for Ph.D. #1)
  • Good conduct
  • Fluency in English
  • Experience in statistical analyses and motivation to improve
  • High ethical standards, reliability, precision, and persistence in work
  • Cooperative attitude and inclusive approach in social interactions
