Two Postdoctoral Positions, Max-Delbrück-Center, Germany

PhD in Germany, International Max Planck Research School

Two Postdoctoral Positions: The Max Delbrück Center for Molecular Medicine (MDC), an international biomedical research center in Berlin-BUCH, is offering two fully funded postdoctoral positions in the Spatial Proteomics research group led by Dr. Fabian Coscia. This opportunity is part of a recently awarded ERC starting grant and involves cutting-edge research at the interface of single-cell mass spectrometry-based proteomics, multiplex imaging, and machine learning. Join our collaborative team to further develop and apply groundbreaking technologies, including Deep Visual Proteomics, for precision oncology and translational research.

Job Description: The Coscia lab is dedicated to translational research projects that leverage innovative spatial proteomics methods for disease phenotyping. Our work combines ultra-sensitive (single-cell) mass spectrometry-based proteomics, multiplex imaging, and machine learning for data analysis. We have pioneered Deep Visual Proteomics, a groundbreaking approach fusing microscopic cell phenotyping with global and quantitative proteomics. The selected candidate(s) will further develop and apply this technology in the realm of precision oncology. Collaborating closely with clinical scientists, we aim to unravel cancer treatment resistance mechanisms, identify new therapeutic targets, and enhance patient stratification. You will join an enthusiastic team of scientists working on the forefront of spatial proteomics, with access to state-of-the-art instrumentation and AI-guided computational workflows.

Requirements:

  • PhD degree (or equivalent) with a strong research track record.
  • Solid background in either MS-based proteomics, multiplex immunofluorescence microscopy, image data analysis, or multi-omics data integration.
  • Strong publication record as a primary author.
  • Excellent communication skills in English.
  • Passion for translational systems biology and spatial proteomics.
  • Submission of a 1-page project proposal demonstrating your motivation and vision for the future of spatial proteomics in precision medicine.

We Offer:

  • An international working environment with communication in English and German.
  • Exciting career opportunities and avenues for further qualification and training.
  • Support for work-life balance, certified by the “berufundfamilie audit.”
  • On-campus health and fitness center.
  • Competitive remuneration according to the TVöD Bund, up to fee group 13.
  • Full-time employment with 39 working hours per week.

Parity and Equal Status: We welcome applications from individuals irrespective of ethnicity, color, religion, sex, national origin, disability, age, gender identity, or sexual orientation. Diversity and open-mindedness are encouraged, and applications from severely disabled persons will be given special consideration.

How to Apply: Please use our online portal to submit your application, which should include a one-page project proposal, CV, references, relevant educational and degree certificates (combined in one PDF file without photo, age, and family status information), and any other relevant attachments. If you hold a foreign degree, please provide proof of its recognition in Germany via the anabin database and include it as a PDF attachment.

Last Date for Apply: 23 October 2023
