  • Eligibility/Qualification:
  • PhD in engineering, physics, quantitative or computational biology, or a related topic.
  • Proficiency in object-oriented programming (Python, Java, C++, etc.).
  • Experience in custom hardware development (CAD, electronics, 3D printing).
  • Expertise in deep learning models, particularly for digital signal processing.
  • Knowledge and practical experience in field ecology is highly valued.
  • Strong communication skills in English.
  • Willingness to occasionally travel within Europe.
  • Job Description:
  • Develop and deploy innovative methods using cameras, microphones, and microcomputers to monitor earthworms in field settings.
  • Adapt and create novel technologies for non-invasive, high-temporal resolution earthworm monitoring.
  • Utilize modern analysis approaches, including deep learning, to quantify and qualify earthworm activity and behavior.
  • Collaborate extensively within the research group and propose creative solutions to research challenges.
