- PhD in engineering, physics, quantitative or computational biology, or a related topic.
- Proficiency in object-oriented programming (Python, Java, C++, etc.).
- Experience in custom hardware development (CAD, electronics, 3D printing).
- Expertise in deep learning models, particularly for digital signal processing.
- Knowledge and practical experience in field ecology is highly valued.
- Strong communication skills in English.
- Willingness to occasionally travel within Europe.
- Job Description:
- Develop and deploy innovative methods using cameras, microphones, and microcomputers to monitor earthworms in field settings.
- Adapt and create novel technologies for non-invasive, high-temporal resolution earthworm monitoring.
- Utilize modern analysis approaches, including deep learning, to quantify and qualify earthworm activity and behavior.
- Collaborate extensively within the research group and propose creative solutions to research challenges.
