UCD Post-doctoral Research Fellow in Synthesis of Reactive Phosphorus Compounds, Ireland

A temporary post of a UCD Post-doctoral Research Fellow Level 1 or Level 2 is available within the UCD School of Chemistry for a period of 6 months, with the possibility of renewal for a further 12 months. The successful applicant will work on a project to synthesize and study the properties and reactivity of novel low-valent phosphorus-based molecular species and their potential use in C-F bond activation and other related reactions.

Designation: UCD Post-doctoral Research Fellow Level 1 or Level 2

Research Area: Synthesis of reactive phosphorus compounds and their application in C-F bond activation and other related reactions

Location: University College Dublin – School of Chemistry, Dublin, Ireland

Eligibility/Qualification:

• Ph.D. in Chemistry or a related field
• Experience in synthetic chemistry and characterization of novel compounds
• Strong background in organofluorine chemistry is desirable

Job Description:

• Synthesize and characterize novel low-valent phosphorus-based molecular species
• Study the properties and reactivity of the compounds
• Assess their activity towards the activation of organofluorine compounds
• Collaborate with colleagues from the UCD School of Chemical and Bioprocess Engineering

Salary:

• UCD Post-doctoral Research Fellow Level 1: €41,209 – €47,477 per annum
• UCD Post-doctoral Research Fellow Level 2: €48,813 per annum
