Location: University of Vienna, Faculty of Earth Sciences, Geography and Astronomy, Vienna, Austria

Eligibility/Qualification:

  • Completed doctoral/PhD studies in Spatial Planning, Geography, Environmental Sciences, Architecture, Interdisciplinary Studies, or a related field with a strong orientation on spatial transformation
  • Outstanding dissertation
  • Proven competence in interdisciplinary and transdisciplinary research
  • Experience and interest in theoretical approaches, especially in sustainability transitions
  • Knowledge of spatial planning perspectives and approaches to spatial transformations is an asset
  • Proficiency in both quantitative and qualitative research methods, with an interest in transdisciplinary research methods
  • Proven ability to publish in international journals and science-to-public outlets
  • Teaching experience with a track record in both undergraduate and graduate curricula
  • Willingness to contribute to the development of innovative teaching formats and research management
  • Excellent command of written and spoken English, working knowledge of German is required or to be acquired
  • Team player with high social/communicative skills
  • Experience in successful external fundraising and project management is an advantage

Job Description: As a University Assistant Postdoctoral, your responsibilities include:

  • Active participation in interdisciplinary and transdisciplinary research and teaching
  • Developing a specific focus within the field of spatial research and spatial planning
  • Acquiring and managing third-party research projects
  • Publishing and presenting research results in international peer-reviewed journals
  • Teaching courses independently, as defined by the University’s collective agreement
  • Supervising students and developing innovative curriculums
  • Undertaking administrative responsibilities
  • Participating in science management, including organizing workshops, conferences, and networks with academic and non-academic stakeholders
