University Assistant (Prae-doc): TU Wien, Austria’s largest institution for research and higher education in technology and natural sciences, is offering a scholarship opportunity for a University Assistant (Prae-doc) position at the Institute of Logic and Computation. This position is intended for 30 hours per week over a period of up to four years, with a focus on innovative research in databases and artificial intelligence.

QualificationDetails
Educational BackgroundExcellent Master’s degree or diploma in Computer Science or closely related field
Technical SkillsStrong programming skills and experience in developing research prototypes
Knowledge AreasIn-depth understanding of at least one of the following: graph data management, knowledge graphs, data integration (data lakes, fabrics), graph data mining
Soft SkillsAbility to work in a team, problem-solving skills, organizational and analytical skills, creative thinking, and excellent communication skills (spoken and written)
Language ProficiencyProficiency in English; knowledge of German (B2 level) or willingness to learn within the first year

Description

The successful candidate will engage in research, project activities, and publication efforts within the field of databases and knowledge engineering. Responsibilities include solving scientific problems, writing a dissertation, participating in teaching activities, and attending scientific events. The position provides an excellent opportunity for independent and goal-oriented research, with the potential for an extended full-time engagement.

  • Salary: The entry-level salary is determined by the Austrian collective agreement pay grade B1, with a minimum of EUR 2,684.10 gross per month for 30 hours/week. Relevant experience may increase the salary.
