University Assistant Praedoc: Join the University of Vienna’s interdisciplinary team as a University Assistant Praedoc to contribute to the “GeoAI for Climate Mobility Research” project. As part of the Trans|Form – Population, Environment, Development working group, you will collaborate closely with Prof. Patrick Sakdapolrak and the Cartography and Geoinformation Working Group (Prof. Krzysztof Janowicz). This PhD position focuses on addressing questions about environmental and climate mobility using GeoAI and knowledge graphs.

Eligibility/Qualification:
- Completed university degree in geography, geoinformatics, or a related discipline.
- Good knowledge of geoinformatics/geodata science methods, including programming languages such as Java, Python, or R.
- Experience with knowledge graphs and spatial datasets is an advantage.
- Knowledge of social science research methods is beneficial.
- Background in population geography, demography, migration research, development research, or human-environment research is an advantage.
- Very good command of the English language, both spoken and written.
- Ability to work in a team.
Job Description:
University Assistant Praedoc – GeoAI for Climate Mobility Research
- Develop and complete a dissertation on the application of GeoAI and geosemantics in climate mobility research.
- Participate in scientific studies, research projects, and other academic activities.
- Contribute to the preparation of research proposals and acquisition of third-party funding.
- Plan and conduct courses, supervise students, and hold courses within the framework of collective bargaining agreements.
- Engage in the working group, carry out administrative tasks, and facilitate scientific communication.
