Eligibility/Qualification:
- Master’s degree in economics, physics, mathematics, sociology, psychology, or a related field.
- Strong interest in climate change research and policy.
- Experience with analyzing large datasets and modeling tools used in human-environment system modeling.
- Programming and data analysis skills, preferably in R and Python.
- Proficiency in both written and spoken German and English.
- Structured and goal-oriented thinking.
- Self-initiative, reliability, and organizational skills.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills in an interdisciplinary and internationally oriented environment.
Job Description:
- Conducting research in system transformation, human agency, socio-economic inequalities, and complex system science within the research group of Prof. Otto “Social Complexity and System Transformation” at the Wegener Center for Climate and Global Change.
- Writing a doctoral thesis.
- Performing quantitative and qualitative data analysis.
- Engaging in dedicated publication activities in innovative climate complex systems research and social sciences or economics areas.
- Interacting with stakeholders and relevant societal actors.
- Providing student support and supervision.
- Supporting teaching in the master program “Climate Change and Transformation Science” with English as the teaching language.
