University Assistant with Doctorate: The University of Graz is seeking a highly qualified individual for the position of University Assistant with Doctorate in the field of Complexity in Biology. As a university assistant, you will have the opportunity to conduct independent and cooperative research, establish your own research profile, teach in the fields of Complexity in Biology and Statistical Mechanics of Biological Systems, supervise students, and contribute to the organization and administration of the work group. This position offers an expected employment until November 14, 2027, with a starting date of July 1, 2023.

Eligibility/Qualification:

  • Completed doctorate/PhD in the field of natural sciences, computer science, or mathematics
  • Proficiency in statistical mechanics applied to complex biological systems
  • Knowledge of programming languages such as C++, Python, MatLab, or similar
  • Strong publication record, with international publications
  • Competence in project application and coordination
  • Ability to conduct independent research
  • Didactic abilities to teach independently
  • Excellent command of written and spoken English
  • Organizational skills
  • Experience working in international and interdisciplinary teams
  • Strong commitment and motivation for scientific work

Job Description: In this role, you will conduct independent and cooperative research in the field of Complexity in Biology. You will establish your own research profile, teach courses in Complexity in Biology and Statistical Mechanics of Biological Systems, supervise bachelor and master students, and have the opportunity to acquire third-party funding. Additionally, you will contribute to the organization of the work group and the Field of Excellence COLIBRI, as well as participate in organizational and administrative tasks and evaluation measures.
