Job Description: As a University Assistant with Doctorate, your responsibilities will include:

  • Conducting independent and cooperative research in the field of Complexity in Biology.
  • Establishing and developing your own research profile in the field of Complexity in Biology.
  • Teaching duties in the areas of Complexity in Biology and Statistical Mechanics of Biological Systems.
  • Supervising bachelor’s and master’s students.
  • Opportunity for independent and collaborative acquisition of third-party funding.
  • Contributing to the organization of the work group and the Field of Excellence COLIBRI.
  • Cooperating on organizational and administrative tasks, as well as evaluation measures.

Your Profile: To be successful in this role, you should have the following qualifications and skills:

  • Completed Doctorate/PhD in the field of natural sciences, Computer Science, or Mathematics.
  • Knowledge of statistical mechanics applied to complex biological systems.
  • Proficiency in programming languages such as C++, Python, MatLab, or similar.
  • Demonstrated international publication activity.
  • Competence in project application and project coordination.
  • Ability to conduct independent research.
  • Didactic abilities to teach independently.
  • Excellent command of written and spoken English.
  • Organizational skills.
  • Ability to work in international and interdisciplinary teams.
  • Strong commitment and motivation for scientific work.

  • Classification: Salary scheme of the Universitäten-KV (University Collective Agreement): B1
  • Minimum Salary: The minimum salary as stated in the collective agreement and according to the classification scheme is EUR 45.882,20 gross/year (for full-time employment).
