Wellington Doctoral Scholarship: The Wellington Doctoral Scholarship is designed to support doctoral study (PhD) at Victoria University of Wellington. Eligibility/Qualification:

  • Open to graduates of any university within or outside of New Zealand.
  • Must intend to enroll full-time for a Doctorate (PhD) at Victoria University of Wellington.
  • Applicants should have a strong academic record and excellent academic references, or demonstrated potential for high-quality research.
  • A record of publication in high-quality journals commensurate with experience and education is also considered.
  • Must include a copy of their academic record from other institutions with the application form (if applicable).
  • Must complete a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree with academic distinction equivalent to a First Class Honours degree at a New Zealand University.

Job Description:

  • Recipients are required to enroll full-time in a doctoral program at Victoria University of Wellington.
  • Scholarship recipients must maintain full-time enrollment and devote themselves full-time to their research program during the tenure of the scholarship.
  • Recipients may be allowed to undertake paid employment for up to 600 hours per year with appropriate approvals.
  • Must sign a Wellington Doctoral Research Scholarship Contract and comply with all terms and conditions.
  • Submit six-monthly progress reports outlining research progress.
  • Participate in appropriate events or marketing as Ambassadors for Victoria University of Wellington if requested.

  2. Submit the Wellington Doctoral Scholarship application form.
  3. Ensure all supporting documentation (including academic records and references) is received by 4:30 pm on the closing date.
  4. Applications must be submitted by 4:30 pm on the closing date: 1 March, 1 July, or 1 November.
