Eligibility/Qualification
- Candidate must not have completed a doctorate in science or obtained the title of Doctor of Philosophy.
- Must not have been employed as a young researcher previously.
- Must have completed a second-level study program or equivalent, corresponding to level 8 in the Slovenian qualifications framework or an equivalent foreign program.
- Averages of at least 8.00 in all exams and exercises for both first-cycle and second-cycle study programs are required. For students who completed their studies abroad, a comparable equivalent is needed; otherwise, a mentor’s recommendation is necessary.
Description
This position is aimed at engaging a young researcher in an interdisciplinary group comprising virologists, molecular biologists, microbiologists, and biochemists. The researcher will investigate various topics including microbial diversity, evolution, and diagnostics of pathogens, employing advanced techniques such as quantitative and digital PCR, electron microscopy, high-throughput sequencing, and bioinformatics analysis. The candidate will focus on viromic studies related to invertebrates and their associated samples and will work within state-of-the-art facilities at NIB. The position aims to cultivate critical skills necessary for a successful research career.
