PhD Student of Smart Devices: The Helmholtz-Zentrum Dresden-Rossendorf (HZDR), part of the Helmholtz Association of German Research Centres, is seeking a highly motivated PhD student for the development of smart miniaturized microfluidic devices and systems. The position is part-time and offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to cutting-edge research at the Institute of Radiopharmaceutical Cancer Research.

Eligibility/Qualification:

  • Completed university studies (Master’s degree or diploma) in Mechanical engineering, Biomedical Engineering, Nanotechnology, and related disciplines.
  • Experience in the design and prototyping of microfluidic chips with optical and/or all-electric detection readout.
  • Proficiency in Micro- and nanofabrication.
  • Programming skills.
  • Very good knowledge of English and German (written and spoken).

Job Description:

PhD student (f/m/d) Development of smart miniaturized microfluidic devices and systems

The selected candidate will be responsible for the development of a high-throughput microfluidic system for the automatic culture of 3D tumor cell models. Key tasks include designing and prototyping microfluidic chips, employing optical and/or all-electric detection readout, micro- and nanofabrication, and utilizing programming skills. The role involves contributing to innovative research in the field of cancer biology.
