PDRA in Natural Product Synthesis: The Department of Chemistry at the University of York is inviting applications for a full-time three-year post-doctoral research associate (PDRA) position in synthetic chemistry. The role is part of a multidisciplinary project focused on plant natural product biosynthesis, aiming to enhance the understanding of how plants form complex natural products. This research may lead to the development of novel biocatalysts and pathways for bioactive compounds.

Eligibility/Qualification:

  • First degree in chemistry, biochemistry, or a relevant subject
  • PhD in chemistry or equivalent experience
  • Extensive skills in synthetic organic chemistry and analysis
  • Extensive experience in the analysis of small organic molecules using NMR spectroscopy
  • Experience in independent and collaborative research
  • Experience in writing up research work for publication
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team

Job Description: The PDRA will be involved in a multidisciplinary team, collaborating with experts in the Department of Chemistry and the Centre for Novel Agricultural Products. The primary focus is on discovering the metabolic origins of chiral bioactive alkaloids through the characterization of biosynthetic enzymes and pathway intermediates.
