Postdoctoral Research Assistant in Thermodynamics: The Department of Engineering Science at the University of Oxford is inviting applications for a full-time Postdoctoral Research Assistant position within Professor Ares’ research group. The position is funded by an ERC starting grant and is fixed-term until March 31, 2026. The successful candidate will be actively involved in the development and characterization of quantum devices, exploring the interplay between electronic and mechanical degrees of freedom to study thermodynamic processes at the nanoscale.

Eligibility/Qualification:
- Ph.D./D.Phil (or near completion*) in a relevant subject.

Postdoctoral Research Assistant in Thermodynamics at the Nanoscale
The successful candidate will:
- Fabricate quantum devices.
- Characterize devices at low temperatures.
- Conduct experiments to elucidate thermodynamic quantities such as work and heat.
- Collaborate with theorists to design new ambitious experiments.
