PhD Position in Molecular Virology: The Virology department of the Max von Pettenkofer Institute at LMU Munich, Germany, invites applications for a PhD position in Molecular Virology. The successful candidate will join the research group of PD Dr. Hanna-Mari Baldauf for a DFG-funded project on lentiviral gene expression mechanisms and evolution. The position is funded for 36 months (TV-L E13, 65%) and is expected to start in early/mid 2024.

Eligibility/Qualification:
- Master’s Degree/Diploma in Life Sciences or related disciplines
- Strong commitment to science
- Interest in molecular virology
- Ability to conduct independent research
- Previous work in biochemistry and/or virology (an advantage, but not mandatory)
Job Description: The PhD student will be involved in a collaborative project at the intersection of biochemistry, virology, and evolutionary biology. The focus is on exploring lentiviral gene expression mechanisms and evolutionary aspects using cutting-edge technologies. The position offers an exciting research topic with high biomedical relevance within a stimulating and interactive scientific environment. The research facility is situated on the research campus in Großhadern/Martinsried, providing access to world-class scientific resources and core facilities.
