Banaras Hindu University, Varanasi, UP, India invites applications for Proiect Research Scientist Position from eligible and interested candidates
About- Applications are invited from motivated and qualified candidates for multiple research and project-based positions at the DST-Mahamana Centre of Excellence for Climate Change Research, Banaras Hindu University (BHU), Varanasi. These positions are funded under a national initiative on climate change research and are offered on a temporary, project-linked basis. Selected candidates may also get an opportunity to pursue a PhD subject to eligibility.

Location- Banaras Hindu University, Varanasi
Eligibility/Qualification–
JRF (Junior Research Fellow)
- Master’s degree with at least 60% marks in relevant disciplines OR B.Tech in related fields
- Must have qualified NET/GATE or equivalent
- Age limit as per government norms
SRF (Senior Research Fellow)
- Same as JRF + minimum 2 years of research experience
Project Associate-I
- Master’s degree (minimum 60%) or B.Tech in relevant disciplines
Research Associate (RA)
- PhD in Science/Technology or equivalent
- Background in atmospheric sciences, environmental sciences, engineering, or related fields
Project Scientist-I
- PhD with strong academic background in relevant disciplines
Project Assistant
- B.Sc./M.Sc./B.Tech with at least 55% marks
- Maximum age: 50 years
Desirable Skills (for most positions):
- Programming knowledge (MATLAB, R, GIS, GRADS, etc.)
- Experience in climate or environmental research
- Data analysis and modeling skills
- Knowledge of remote sensing or HPC systems
Job/Position Description–

The positions are offered under a prestigious national program focused on advancing knowledge in climate change research. The appointments are temporary and aligned with the duration of the project (up to 5 years). Initially, candidates will be appointed for six months, with the possibility of extension based on performance.
Junior-level researchers demonstrating strong academic and research potential may be considered for PhD registration as per university norms.
Selected candidates will work on interdisciplinary themes such as climate modeling, environmental impact assessment, sustainable agriculture, and policy analysis.
