Postdoctoral Fellow in Cancer Research, University of Gothenburg, Sweden

Study in Sweden

Postdoctoral Fellow in Cancer Research: The University of Gothenburg is seeking a qualified and motivated Postdoctoral Fellow in Cancer Research to join the Institute of Clinical Sciences. The position will focus on preclinical research, particularly concerning extracellular vesicles and cancer. The successful candidate will work with the newly established research group of Rossella Crescitelli, contributing to translational research in the field of extracellular vesicles.

Postdoctoral Fellow in Cancer Research with Focus on Extracellular Vesicles

Designation: Postdoctoral Fellow

Research Area: Extracellular Vesicles and Cancer Research

Location: Institute of Clinical Sciences, University of Gothenburg, Sweden

Eligibility/Qualification: Applicants must hold a doctoral degree or a foreign equivalent deemed equivalent to a doctoral degree. The applicant should have completed their degree no more than three years before the end of the application period. Special grounds may be considered for those who completed their degree more than three years ago, taking into account circumstances like illness, parental leave, or relevant service/assignment.

Job Description: The postdoctoral fellow will conduct research to elucidate how extracellular vesicles mediate communication between cells in the tumor microenvironment. The focus is on understanding novel extracellular vesicle-mediated mechanisms of cancer growth and progression. Using a state-of-the-art method to isolate highly purified extracellular vesicles directly from tissue, the fellow will explore and describe EV-mediated communication between cells in the tumor microenvironment. The work involves molecular and cellular methods, DNA/RNA/protein analyses, flow cytometry, electron microscopy, and advanced extracellular vesicle isolation methods. Collaboration with a clinical laboratory for patient sample collection is integral to the role.

Eligibility: To be eligible, the applicant must have a Ph.D. in biology, biochemistry, biotechnology, molecular biology, or equivalent. Proficiency in cell biology, biochemistry, and molecular biology is required. Experience in single-cell transcriptomic analysis, mass spectrometry, flow cytometry analysis, and familiarity with extracellular vesicles and mouse models is advantageous. Expertise in advanced microscopy (confocal and transmission electron microscopy) is considered a plus. The position requires self-motivation, independence, accuracy, and excellent communication skills in English.

Employment: The position is temporary for two years with the possibility of a one-year extension, placed at the Institute of Clinical Sciences, Surgery. The starting date will be agreed upon.

Contact Information: For inquiries about the position, please contact researcher Rossella Crescitelli via email: rossella.crescitelli@gu.se.

Application: Submit your application through the University of Gothenburg’s recruitment portal by the deadline of 25th February 2014. The application, written in English, should include a short cover letter describing your experience and qualifications, a detailed CV, a publication list, and the names/contact information of two references.
