PhD Position in Deep Learning: The Graduate School of Technical Sciences at Aarhus University, Denmark, invites applications for two Ph.D. fellowships/scholarships within the Electrical and Computer Engineering program. The positions, starting from 01 May 2024 or later, are part of the Horizon Europe project PANDORA and the NordForsk project Nordic University Cooperation on Edge Intelligence (NUEI). The research focuses on Deep Learning for Artificial Intelligence of Things (AIoT) with opportunities for collaboration and networking across European institutions.

Study Area: The research encompasses Deep Learning for efficient inference of AIoT input streams, sensor-based data processing in real time, and novel techniques for distributed AI learning and inferencing in the IoT-Edge-Cloud continuum.

Scholarship Description: The first Ph.D. project focuses on proposing new Deep Learning models for efficient AIoT inference using Continual Inference Networks. The second project aims to develop techniques for distributed AI learning and inferencing in the IoT-Edge-Cloud continuum, optimizing resource utilization, inference accuracy, and energy consumption.

Eligibility: Applicants must have:

  • Master’s degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a relevant area.
  • Background in machine learning.
  • Strong Python programming skills.
  • Excellent English verbal and written skills.
  • Ability to work well in an interdisciplinary team.
  • Background in video processing, deep learning, or wireless communications is a plus.
