PostDoctoral Associate at University of Colorado: The Walczak group at the University of Colorado Boulder is offering full-time postdoctoral research fellowship positions, supported by NIH funding, to investigate molecular mechanisms of neurodegeneration. The position provides a unique opportunity for independent research in an interdisciplinary laboratory focusing on chemical biology and biophysics.

Eligibility/Qualification:

  • PhD in organic chemistry/synthesis, physical organic chemistry, organometallic chemistry, or a related field.
  • Proficiency in organic synthesis and structure determination techniques.
  • Strong publication record demonstrating research excellence.
  • Fluent in English (written and oral) with strong scientific writing skills.
  • Excellent problem-solving, interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills.

Job Description: The successful candidate will:

  • Conduct and lead independent research related to the project.
  • Design, plan, and carry out experiments.
  • Analyze and interpret experiment results using scientific knowledge and computational techniques.
  • Prepare reports and papers for publication in refereed journals.
  • Present research findings at internal meetings, national and international conferences, and seminars.
  • Contribute to writing proposals for research funding.
  • Stay updated with the latest scientific literature in the research project and broader field.
  • Collaborate with other research team members and develop relationships with other research groups.
  • Assist with lab management duties, including equipment maintenance and lab safety.
  • Provide guidance to less experienced lab members on techniques, experiment design, and data analysis.
  • Participate in departmental activities and contribute to academic and scientific discussions.
  • Ensure compliance with ethical guidelines in research, especially when dealing with hazardous materials and/or biological samples.
