PhD Student in Optoacoustic Mesoscopy: The Chair of Biological Imaging at the Technical University of Munich (TUM) and the Institute of Biological and Medical Imaging (IBMI) at Helmholtz Munich are seeking a highly qualified and motivated PhD student (f/m/d) to drive the development of optoacoustic mesoscopy in hardware and software for improved imaging performance in new clinical applications.

Study Area: Optoacoustic Mesoscopy

Scholarship Description: The PhD student will contribute to the further development of ultra-wideband raster-scan optoacoustic mesoscopy (RSOM) for faster imaging speed, deeper penetration depth, and more tissue information. The focus is on achieving advancements for various biological and clinical applications.

Eligibility:

  • Master degree in optics, physics, electrical engineering, medical technology, biomedical engineering, or a related discipline.
  • Experiences in optics, imaging techniques, and/or setup-related electronics.
  • Practical experience with Python/Matlab/C++.
  • Team player skills and enthusiasm to work in a multi-disciplinary, collaborative environment.
  • Good command of written and spoken English.
  • Good communication skills.
