- Basic Qualifications:
- PhD in nuclear engineering or a related field completed within the last 5 years.
- Understanding of nuclear fireball physics and chemistry modeling.
- Excellent communication skills.
Job Description:
- Conduct research on the formation, development, and transport of radioactive debris from urban nuclear explosions.
- Utilize expertise in nuclear physics, chemistry, mathematical modeling, and code development.
- Develop and implement calculational methods for simulating nuclear explosion processes and interpreting fallout data.
- Focus on mathematical methods, inverse calculations, statistical models, and integrate them into existing modeling and simulation tools.
- Maintain and develop codes, test performance on different operating systems, and validate results using numerically generated and measured data.
- Perform statistical analysis of uncertainties and correlations in reconstructed values.
- Interact with division staff, work independently, document work in reports/publications, interface with project sponsors, and contribute to research proposals.
