Location: NTNU University Museum, Department of Natural History, Trondheim, Norway
Eligibility/Qualification:
- Master’s degree in biology or equivalent, specializing in molecular ecology, evolutionary biology, biosystematics, or related fields.
- Experience in NGS data analysis at the master’s level for addressing evolutionary questions.
- Strong interest in invasion biology with multidisciplinary approaches.
- Education equivalent to a five-year Norwegian degree program, with 120 credits at the master’s level.
- Average grade equivalent to B or better on NTNU’s grading scale.
- Meet the requirements for admission to the faculty’s doctoral program.
- Excellent proficiency in written and oral English.
Description: As a PhD Candidate, you will engage in a diverse range of activities, including arctic fieldwork, herbarium work, greenhouse experiments, DNA lab work, and bioinformatics. The primary focus is on wintercress, exploring its genomic basis for adaptation to the Arctic environment and its relation to invasiveness. You will work closely with a team of international experts, utilizing herbarium collections, clean-lab facilities, and advanced genomic resources. The research contributes to a broader project on Arctic greening and aligns with the Nordic Borealization Network.

Note: The position is available from spring 2024, with a fixed-term appointment of four years. A portion of the time is allocated to collection work, teaching, and public outreach. Successful candidates must be admitted to the PhD program in Biology within three months of employment.
