PhD Fellowship in Biology: A fully funded 3-year PhD fellowship is available at the Institut de Génomique Fonctionnelle de Lyon, France, to investigate the gene regulatory networks (GRNs) involved in leg development and regeneration in the crustacean model Parhyale hawaiensis. The research is funded by the ANR grant RePlay, and the project aims to compare GRNs underlying leg development and regeneration using experimental and computational approaches.
PhD Fellowship in Experimental and Computational Biology
Designation: PhD Fellow in Experimental and Computational Biology
Research Area: Gene regulatory networks in leg development and regeneration
Location: Institut de Génomique Fonctionnelle de Lyon, Lyon, France
Eligibility/Qualification:
- Masters degree in Science, preferably in Biology or Bioinformatics
- Practical experience in bioinformatics, genomics, molecular genetics, or developmental biology is an advantage
- Fluency in English (French language skills not required)
- Open to candidates from all nationalities
Job Description: The recruited PhD student will work on a fully funded project comparing GRNs involved in leg development and regeneration in the crustacean model Parhyale hawaiensis. The project will include:
- Experimental work: Generating scRNAseq and scATACseq data from developing and regenerating legs
- Computational work: Processing data to reconstruct and compare GRNs
- Transgenesis: Validating key GRN nodes in vivo
Work Environment: The student will join the Development, Regeneration, and Evolution team at the Institut de Génomique Fonctionnelle de Lyon, located at the campus of the École Normale Supérieure de Lyon in the south of Lyon, France. The research team operates in English, providing an international and stimulating environment. The student will be enrolled as a PhD student at the École Normale Supérieure de Lyon and will be co-supervised by Mathilde Paris and Michalis Averof. Training will be provided in single-cell genomics, bioinformatics, transgenesis, and live imaging.
The project involves collaboration with Arnau Sebé Pedrós at the Centre for Genomic Regulation (CRG) in Barcelona and is funded by the ANR grant RePlay.
