Description:
This PhD project, funded by the ERC Starting grant ‘ReCNNSTRCT’, focuses on exploring novel reaction chemistries from underexploited enzymes to tackle challenging synthetic transformations. By extending the toolbox of N-N bond-forming enzymes (NNZYMES), the project aims to develop sustainable biocatalysts for the production of important molecules, including pharmaceutical precursors. The research will involve bioinformatic analysis, enzyme biochemistry, organic chemistry, instrumental analysis, and protein engineering. The successful candidate will join the Chemical and Pharmaceutical Biology unit at GRIP, benefiting from an inspiring, interdisciplinary, and collaborative research environment.
