Study Area: Microbial Ecology
Scholarship Description: The PhD Research Fellow position at the Department of Biological Sciences focuses on exploring various facets of microbial ecology and evolution. The candidate will engage in research involving virus-host interaction dynamics, co-evolution under diverse environmental conditions, and analysis of microbial communities’ responses to environmental changes. This project will utilize both laboratory and computational approaches, with possible use of RAS facilities, to investigate life strategy trade-offs in structuring microbial communities.
Eligibility:
- Hold a master’s degree or equivalent in biology or have submitted the master’s thesis for assessment before the application deadline.
- Competence in molecular biology, microbiology, and laboratory work.
- Proficiency in programming and computational biology.
- Interest in microbial communities, biodiversity, and ecological and evolutionary mechanisms.
- Ability to work independently, collaboratively, and proficiently in English.
- Preference given to those with experience in culturing microbes.
