Job Description:

Reporting to: Hasan Yardimci, Senior Group Leader

Research Group: The H Yardimci lab explores processes involved in eukaryotic DNA replication and genome maintenance using biochemistry and single-molecule visualization tools. The lab employs model systems including Xenopus egg extracts and purified human proteins to investigate replication dynamics.

Project: The focus is on unraveling the mechanisms of eukaryotic DNA replication machinery through single-molecule fluorescence microscopy. Previous work has elucidated processes such as parental histone recycling and sister chromatid cohesion. The current project aims to delve deeper into these interactions, potentially revolutionizing our understanding of genomic fidelity.

Responsibilities: The Postdoctoral Fellow will lead their own projects, contribute to lab projects, and potentially guide PhD students. They will have opportunities to present work at international conferences and engage in interdisciplinary collaborations.

Key Experience and Competencies:

  • Embody and demonstrate Crick values: bold, imaginative, open, dynamic, and collegial
  • Strong interest in genome maintenance
  • Experience or interest in biochemistry, biophysics, or related fields
  • Track record of scientific publication and data presentation
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively
  • Desirable: Experience in protein biochemistry, nucleic acid processing enzymes, or single-molecule methods like TIRF microscopy

How to Apply: Informal inquiries and applications should be directed to Hasan Yardimci (Hasan.Yardimci@crick.ac.uk).
