Job Description:

Context:

Inria’s International Relations Department annually offers a few postdoctoral positions to foster international collaborations. The selected candidate will work within Inria Centers in France, and potentially spend time in the partner’s country. Initial work must commence in France and follow Inria’s mission rules. This postdoctoral position aims to provide a new scientific environment different from the candidate’s previous experiences.

Project Goal:

The project focuses on using higher-order structures like simplicial complexes and hyper-graphs to model group interactions in neural systems. The research aims to bridge the gap between higher-order network predictions and underlying neural mechanisms. The ultimate goal is to create and validate a mathematical framework using neuronal recordings, with implications for AI and clinical applications.

Main Activities:

  • Develop a mathematical framework for higher-order networks from node dynamics.
  • Model group interactions and validate these models experimentally using neuronal recordings.
  • Collaborate within a bilateral funding scheme between Inria Paris and Queen Mary University London.
  • Work under the supervision of Dr. Fabrizio De Vico Fallani and Prof. Vito Latora.

Skills:

  • PhD in Physics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Statistics, or Engineering.
  • Strong interest in biological systems, network science, and neuroscience.
  • Experience in biological applications and imaging techniques is desirable.

Benefits Package:

  • Subsidized meals
  • Partial reimbursement of public transport costs
  • 7 weeks of annual leave plus 10 extra days off (RTT) and exceptional leave options
  • Teleworking options and flexible working hours
  • Professional equipment for work (videoconferencing, computer equipment)
  • Access to social, cultural, and sports activities

How to Apply:

Candidates must submit their application by June 2, 2024. Please include your CV, a cover letter detailing your research interests and qualifications, and contact information for three references.

For more details and to apply, visit the official Inria career portal or contact Dr. Fabrizio De Vico Fallani directly via the Inria Paris website.
