Designation: Postdoctoral Research Assistant

Location: Dundee, with travel to Sheffield up to 8 times a year

Eligibility/Qualification:

  • PhD in Immunology, Clinical Research, Cell Biology, or a related field
  • Strong academic record with at least one publication/preprint
  • Background in immunology, gastroenterology, cell biology, and/or mass spectrometry
  • Experience with primary cell cultures and/or proteomics or other -omics analyses
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively
  • Excellent communication skills in English

Job Description: The successful candidate will work on a project studying human intestinal lymphocytes from Coeliac disease patients, focusing on the effects of immunomodulators. The role involves:

  • Conducting research with patient samples obtained in Sheffield
  • Using cutting-edge proteomics and -omics technologies
  • Analyzing big data to decipher signalling pathways in autoimmune T cell activation
  • Collaborating with clinical and basic research teams, including Dr. Hugo Penny and Prof. David Sanders
  • Presenting research findings at national and international meetings
  • Engaging with the public and patients
  • Assisting in training PhD students and lab members
