Scholarship Description

Ports are vital nodes in the global logistics network, and their efficient operation is crucial for international trade. This PhD position aims to optimize port performance by focusing on the strategic aspects of port infrastructure. The candidate will work with various data sources, including geospatial information and satellite imagery, to address complex issues such as port accessibility, dredging strategies, asset management, and infrastructure resilience. This position offers a unique opportunity to contribute to the future of port infrastructure management using innovative technologies and AI.

Eligibility

  • MSc degree in Civil Engineering, Maritime Engineering, Transport and Infrastructure, or related fields
  • Expertise in applying AI models and big data analytics
  • Proficiency in Python scripting
  • Affinity with port-related applications, dredging, and infrastructure maintenance
  • Ability to work in a multidisciplinary environment with scientific partners and industry stakeholders
  • English proficiency (TOEFL score of 100 or IELTS score of 7.0)
