PhD in Germany, International Max Planck Research School

Post-doctoral Researcher at MPSD: The Max Planck Institute for the Structure and Dynamics of Matter (MPSD) in Hamburg is seeking a highly motivated post-doctoral researcher to join our team. The successful candidate will develop and implement algorithms to process single particle X-ray diffraction data from X-ray Free Electron Lasers (XFELs) to study the structural dynamics of biomolecular systems. This project, funded by the Rƶntgen ƅngstrƶm Cluster, involves collaboration with teams from the University of Gothenburg, University of Hamburg, and Deutsches Elektronen Synchrotron (DESY).

Designation: Post-doctoral Researcher (m/f/d)

Research Area: Structural Dynamics of Biomolecular Systems

Location: Hamburg, Germany

Eligibility/Qualification:

  • University degree in a relevant subject plus a PhD in physics, chemistry, or structural biology.
  • Beneficial experience in:
    • Coherent X-ray diffraction or macromolecular crystallography
    • XFEL experiments or large-scale data analysis
    • Python programming
  • Fluency in English, the working language in our group and with collaborators.

Job Description:

  • Develop and implement algorithms for processing single particle X-ray diffraction data.
  • Unravel structural dynamics of biomolecular systems.
