Eligibility/Qualification:
- MSc in Computational or Applied Mechanics, Mechanical Engineering, Applied Mathematics, Computer Science, or a related field.
- Experience in machine learning for scientific applications.
- Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, PyTorch, TensorFlow, etc.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
- Passion for innovative research and solving complex problems.
- Proficiency in English as per the Graduate Schools Admission Requirements at TU Delft.
Job Description: Metals are pivotal to sustainable technological growth, with new sustainable alloys emerging due to recent breakthroughs in materials discovery. However, modeling the behavior and optimizing the processing methods of these materials remains challenging due to the complex interactions between their structure, properties, and processing methods across different scales. As a PhD candidate, you will develop a physics-informed machine learning framework to address these modeling bottlenecks and enable high-throughput investigation of process-structure-property relations in metallic systems. This project aims to accelerate the development of next-generation materials with improved performance, impacting a wide range of applications.

Conditions of Employment:
- 4-year employment period in principle, split into two contracts: an initial 1.5-year contract followed by a 2.5-year contract upon satisfactory progress.
- Salary ranges from €2770 per month in the first year to €3539 per month in the fourth year, as per the Collective Labour Agreement for Dutch Universities.
