Designation: Research Fellow/Associate

Research Area: Synthetic Biology, Molecular Biology, Metabolic Engineering, Microbial Biotechnology

Location: South Kensington and White City Campus – Hybrid

Eligibility/Qualification:

  • For Research Associate (Senior Postdoc) level: PhD in synthetic biology, molecular biology, metabolic engineering, microbial biotechnology, or equivalent
  • For Research Fellow level: Substantial postdoctoral experience

Job Description:

  • Coordinate research projects, supervise students, apply for grants, write papers, and manage the research group
  • Contribute to the Bezos Centre for Sustainable Protein and the UKRI Engineering Biology Hub for Microbial Foods
  • Engage in the development of tools using synthetic biology, automation, and modeling
  • Design and engineer microbial strains to improve bioproduction from renewable feedstocks
  • Investigate and construct synthetic microbial communities for biotechnological advancements
  • Collaborate with global partners to transform food systems towards sustainability and resilience
