Research Scholarship in Lichen Conservation and Symbiosis Biology

Designation: Research Scholar (MSc and PhD levels encouraged)

Research Area: Lichen metagenomics and climate change stress response in COSEWIC-listed lichen species at risk.

Location: University of Alberta, Edmonton, Alberta, Treaty 6 territory, Canada

Eligibility/Qualification: Candidates with a passion for nature, coding, and a keen interest in lichen research are encouraged to apply for MSc or PhD positions. An undergraduate or master’s degree in relevant disciplines is required.

Job Description: Selected candidates will work collaboratively with the Symbiosis and Evolution team and multidisciplinary research groups to delve into lichen symbiont responses to climate change stress. The research will focus on understanding the impact of climate change on lichen species at risk and contributing to conservation efforts.
