PhD/Postdoc Position in Spectroelectrochemistry: The Max Planck Institute for Chemical Energy Conversion (MPI CEC) in Mülheim an der Ruhr is seeking a qualified candidate for a Ph.D. student or postdoc position in spectroelectrochemistry on metalloenzymes. Research Area

Spectroelectrochemistry on metalloenzymes, encompassing the study of fundamental chemical processes for energy storage in chemical molecules.

Eligibility/Qualification

  • Ph.D. Position: Master’s degree in chemistry.
  • Postdoctoral Position: Ph.D. degree in chemistry.
  • Background in basic inorganic chemistry and spectroscopy.
  • Genuine interest in metalloenzymes.

Job Description

  • Tasks:
  • Conduct spectroelectrochemical experiments involving IR, EPR, and/or X-ray to elucidate enzyme mechanisms.
  • Focus on enzymes like Lytic Polysaccharide Monooxygenase (LPMO) or Nitrogenase.
  • Analyze data and prepare scientific publications.
  • Supervision:
  • Work under Prof. Serena DeBeer, closely collaborating with Dr. Olaf Rüdiger and Dr. Kushal Sengupta.
