Postdoctoral Research Position – Translational Studies of Psychedelics for Depression
Designation: Postdoctoral Researcher

Location: Karolinska Institutet Solna campus, Stockholm, Sweden
Eligibility/Qualification: A completed doctoral degree or a foreign degree deemed equivalent to a Swedish doctoral degree. Experience in a neuroscience-related field, programming knowledge, expertise in molecular biology, animal models of stress and anxiety, and familiarity with MATLAB, R, or Python. Knowledge or experience in machine learning methods is preferred. FELASA certification of knowledge and skills is desirable. Excellent organizational, oral, and written communication skills in English are required.
Job Description:
- Conduct experiments using clinical and brain imaging data collected in the context of clinical studies of psilocybin’s effects on depressive symptoms in humans.
- Explore the results from clinical studies in mice to identify and characterize the genes and cell types responsible for the antidepressant effects of psilocybin treatment.
- Utilize a combination of viral activity-dependent labeling techniques, cell type-specific methods (e.g., single-cell RNA sequencing), automated behavioral mapping systems, and modern wireless devices for physiological monitoring.
- Play a leading role in experimental design, execution, data analysis, writing up research results, and presenting and publishing results.
- Collaborate with two research laboratories and internationally recognized European researchers and centers experienced in psychedelic research.
