PhD and Postdoc Positions in Quantitative Ecology: The Li lab at the Ecology and Evolutionary Biology (EEB) department of the University of Arizona invites applications for 2 PhD students and 1-2 postdoc positions in Quantitative Ecology. These positions offer a unique opportunity to explore the impacts of environmental changes on biodiversity and phenology using cutting-edge field research and data science techniques.

Eligibility/Qualification:

  • PhD Applicants:
  • Background in biology, ecology, statistics, computer science, or related disciplines.
  • Interest in developing independent research projects in the areas described.
  • Applications from under-served groups in STEM are especially encouraged.
  • Postdoc Applicants:
  • PhD in relevant field.
  • Experience in advanced statistical models or machine learning methods preferred.
  • Interest in developing collaborative research proposals.

Job Description:

PhD Positions:

  • Guaranteed funding for at least 5 years through Teaching Assistantship or Research Assistantship.
  • Research projects on environmental changes affecting biodiversity and phenology using both field research and data science approaches.
  • Encouraged to develop independent research projects within the lab’s focus areas.

Postdoc Positions:

  • Research on eco-evo drivers of symbiosis between nitrogen-fixing plants and soil microbes.
  • Integration of phenological data to study patterns and drivers of plant phenology.
  • Analysis of biodiversity patterns within urban areas globally.
  • Development/application of advanced methods for studying biodiversity change.
