Postdoctoral Position for Analytical Modeling, KU Leuven, Belgium

Postdoctoral Fellow in Belgium

SPostdoctoral Position for Analytical Modeling: The Centre for Mathematical Plasma Astrophysics (CmPA) of the Department of Mathematics at KU Leuven is offering a postdoctoral position focusing on the analytical modeling of magnetohydrodynamics (MHD) waves. The successful candidate will be part of a team led by Prof. Tom Van Doorsselaere and will contribute to fundamental plasma astrophysics and applied mathematics research.

Designation:
Postdoctoral Researcher

Research Area:
Analytical modeling of MHD waves, with a specific focus on the solar atmosphere and the theoretical exploitation of new Q-variables to find analytical descriptions of linear and non-linear MHD wave phenomena.

Location:
Leuven, Belgium

Eligibility/Qualification:

  • PhD degree in physics, astronomy, mathematics, computer science, or an equivalent degree with a significant mathematics component.
  • Experience in performing analytical calculations for (fluid or MHD) wave modeling.
  • Deep understanding of MHD waves.
  • Published papers in academic journals.
  • Ambition to build an academic career and a desire to gain more experience in the field of plasma physics and MHD modeling.

Job Description:
As a postdoctoral researcher, you will:

  • Conduct research in fundamental plasma astrophysics and applied mathematics at the Centre for Mathematical Plasma Astrophysics.
  • Deliver exercise classes in mathematics for courses taught by members of the Department of Mathematics.
  • Assist in guiding bachelor projects and master theses.
  • Support the organization of workshops, conferences, and other research and teaching activities.
