Job Description

The Population Ecology Data Scientist will focus on the impact of fishing activities on the demography of seabirds in the East Central Atlantic. Key responsibilities include:

  • Develop and implement capture-mark-recapture demographic models to evaluate the impact of fishing activities on seabird population dynamics
  • Gather, integrate, and manage data from diverse sources, including GPS and GLS tracking of seabirds, vessel tracking systems, and environmental variables
  • Analyze the combined influence of fishing pressure and climate change on seabird demography
  • Apply advanced statistical methodologies to interpret multifaceted datasets and derive meaningful insights
  • Develop engaging and informative data visualizations to communicate results to a wide range of audiences
  • Collaborate closely with project partners, data providers, and stakeholders to ensure effective data sharing and coordination
  • Provide training and support to project partners, students, and stakeholders on data handling, analysis, and interpretation techniques
