Research Area
This research project will investigate the dynamics of marine species and food webs, particularly focusing on nutrient transfer through omega-3 fatty acids from phytoplankton to zooplankton in the North Sea.
Location
The position is based at ‘t Horntje, Texel, Noord-Holland, Netherlands.
Eligibility/Qualification
- PhD degree in marine ecology/biology, biochemistry, biogeochemistry, or a closely related discipline.
- Experience with lipid and fatty acid analysis, including extraction and analytical analysis methods.
- Knowledge of stable isotope analysis in aquatic environments is an advantage.
- Understanding of phytoplankton and/or zooplankton ecology.
- Proficiency in programming software such as R, Python, or MATLAB.
- A track record of scientific publications.
- Strong communication and writing skills in English.
- A collaborative spirit and ability to work independently.
Job Description
The Postdoctoral Fellow will be responsible for:
- Processing samples for fatty acid and stable isotope analyses collected during the EU-HORIZON ACTNOW project.
- Validating results and writing scientific publications.
- Collaborating within the research team and mentoring Masterās students.
