HORIZON-MSCA-2023-DN PhD Studentship: The University of Birmingham seeks a dedicated candidate for a fully-funded PhD studentship within the Department of Cancer and Genomic Sciences. Research Area

The project will include studies in transcription regulation, chromatin biology, developmental genetics, computational analyses of multi-omic datasets, and will primarily utilize zebrafish as a model organism to investigate the regulatory landscape influencing development and injury responses.

Eligibility/Qualification

  • A first degree in a relevant field (biological, biomedical, natural sciences, mathematics, computer science).
  • Laboratory experience with developmental genetics or genomics tools.
  • Experience with complex datasets and next-generation sequencing data is desirable.
  • Excellent communication skills and a high level of analytical capability.
  • Willingness to travel for international research secondments.

Description

The selected candidate will:

  • Conduct research into transcription regulation and cis regulatory interactions related to telencephalon injury and regeneration.
  • Participate in the DANIO-ReCODE project, collaborating with an international team.
  • Engage in developmental gene manipulation, single-cell genomics technologies, and computational data analysis.
  • Present research findings in various academic contexts and contribute to public engagement activities.
