Eligibility/Qualification:
- Educational Background: PhD in Microbiology, Molecular Biology, Bioinformatics, or related fields.
- Required Skills:
- Strong analytical skills in bioinformatics and sequencing technologies.
- Experience with Nanopore sequencing platforms and sample preparation for Whole Genome Sequencing and Metagenomics.
- Proficiency in workflow development, experimental design, and pipeline development for pathogen genomics.
- Experience with High-Performance Computing, virulence factor prediction, and antimicrobial resistance gene analysis.
- Skills in database curation and software documentation preparation.
- Proven research commitment through publications.
Job Description:
The successful candidate will:
- Develop and optimize Nanopore sequencing technology for serotyping Actinobacillus pleuropneumoniae (APP) and Streptococcus suis, critical pathogens in veterinary medicine.
- Build bioinformatics workflows, perform bioinformatics analysis, and develop a diagnostic tool for veterinary laboratories.
- Conduct training and create comprehensive documentation for technology transfer to stakeholders, including DAFM laboratories.
- Engage in professional development through communication and dissemination of research results, including preparing scoping reviews and manuscripts, curating software documentation, and supervising students.
