Study Area
The position focuses on the interdisciplinary study of Chemical Proteomics and Drug Discovery through developing small molecules to influence immune cell function. The aim is to study immune regulation mechanisms, especially targeting macrophage function in diseases linked to dysregulated immune responses, including cancer and metabolic diseases.
Scholarship Description
The successful candidate will engage in a project combining synthetic chemistry, chemical proteomics, cell and molecular biology, and immunology to explore transcription factors and epigenetic regulators of macrophages. The position provides excellent opportunities for scientific training, collaboration, and career development in a highly supportive and inclusive environment. This role involves synthetic molecule synthesis, proteomic analysis, assay development, and close collaboration with international researchers.
Eligibility
Candidates should meet the following criteria:
- Honors (first class) or MSc degree in Chemistry, Pharmaceutical Science, or a related field
- Research experience in synthetic or medicinal chemistry, compound design, and characterization
- Skills in cell biology, molecular biology, or immunology (essential)
- Familiarity with mass spectrometry-based proteomics or transcription factor biology (desirable)
- Analytical thinking, data analysis, and problem-solving skills
- Proficiency in English (written and spoken) and a team-oriented attitude
Required Documents
To apply, candidates must submit:
- A letter of motivation outlining qualifications, relevant experience, and the anticipated impact on the group
- Curriculum vitae
- Academic transcripts of B.Sc. and M.Sc., including grades
- Copy of M.Sc. thesis or previous publications (if available)
- 1-2 reference letters from former supervisors, with contact information
- Applications should be submitted in English.
