Research Area

The focus of the research project is on developing fully automated image processing methods for hip-fracture risk assessment, specifically utilizing image-based biomarkers from finite element (FE) analysis of the proximal femur.

Eligibility/Qualification

  • Educational Background: Candidates must hold a Master’s degree (MSc) in relevant fields including:

  • Applied Mathematics
  • Physics
  • Skills/Qualifications:
  • Experience in AI, deep learning, or machine learning is advantageous.

Note: The hiring is contingent on formal application approval for the PhD program at the University of Iceland.

Description

The position is fully funded by The Icelandic Research Fund (RANNIS) for three years. The successful candidate will work on developing novel image processing techniques to automate femur segmentation from CT images, overcoming challenges posed by varied CT scanner outputs. The goal is to establish proof-of-concept for future applications in FE analysis related to clinical scenarios, supported by extensive international collaboration.
